Michelle's 4 & 5's

November

We have been having a ton of fun inside our class!  We are excited to continue this year as we get close to many wonderful celebrations!   Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time that reminds us to look around at the many different blessings God has given to us.  Our class will be collecting food to be donated to a local family. The box is outside the classroom for the donations.

So I thought I would do less talking and show you pictures this month instead!  That way you can see the excitement within the center.

October

October is an exciting time of the year!  When I think of October I think of Fun, Fun, Fun!!  With all of the yummy fall treats that we get to eat (mmmmm.... Apple Donuts!), Cooler Temperatures, and dressing up for our Harvest Party it is sure to be a blast!

Dad's Day is October 16th and we are starting to get very excited!!  We will be creating and playing with our dad's, grandpas, or uncles.

Our Harvest Party is October 30th!  And our theme is Community Helpers!  We will dress like a community helper and then eat yummy treats!

We visited the Fire Department on Wednesday the 3rd.  It was a wonderful time.  We had snack outside on the way back from the fire department which was a great way to end a spectacular time!

Thank you for all of the wonderful parents that have helped make this year a success this far. I am looking forward to the rest of the year!

September

September is a lot of fun kicking off our first field trip to the Apple Orchard.  But first we smile big for our class pictures.  We are getting into a routine and making new friends.  We didn't take any time to figure out what we all LOVE to do!  Art, Art and more Art!!!  With this in mind there will be lots of opportunities for us to learn through art.  Before we know it October will be here and we will be on our way to Holiday Fun.

  August

I am Sooo... excited for this month!  I love the feeling of starting something new.  And with the new school year starting you can imagine how excited I am.  The classroom has a new feel to it with the new arrangement and the new decor.  The children that will not be going onto kindergarten and that will stay with me for one more year are getting excited about the changes.  Those that are leaving me and moving onto bigger things have been big helpers as we prepare the room for the new students coming in.

I will truly miss those that are going onto kindergarten.  The friendships we have created over the last year will be there for a lifetime.

I look forward to the new friendships that will be created as we go through the new school year together.

July

In the month of July we will continue to explore our community.  In the month of June we visited the post office and were able to see where our mail goes before it comes to our houses and then we visited Chief's supermarket and explored what happens behind the seens.  We all looked great in our hair nets!
We also visited Skye Cinema and watched on the big screen how animals traveled across the United States as they migrated.

In July we will continue to visit Skye Cinema and view the different animals that live in the Ocean and view the wonderful life of the Chimpanzee.  We will have lots of fun visiting the Library on Mondays as we make crafts with them and listen to books.  The Health department will be here to teach us about safety and germs.  Then we will have a new visitor from the Water and Soil Department that will share with us a wildlife trunk.

We love our community, and love to explore it!!!

May

It is so hard to believe that this preschool year is coming to an end!  The 4-5 year old preschool class is already starting to get ready for the summer preschool program and there are so many fun and exciting things planned!  To end the current program off right there will be a spectacular presentation presented by the class during the graduation ceremony on the 21st of May!  We have been practicing so hard for this and we have been counting down the days for it.   Within the classroom the we have been learning a lot about bugs and plants that eat bugs.  We are going to celebrate birthdays the week of the 13th and then the very last week we will be enjoying parties, reminiscing on memories from the years past and enjoying a picnic and a water fun day!  We are getting so excited to be schoolagers soon and to start kindergarten.

April

April has been very busy as it seems to have been for the last several months in our classroom. We are getting very excited to soon be schoolagers and even took a trip to the Wauseon Primary to visit the kindergarten class. We enjoyed Lutheran Schools week were we got the opportunity to share many of our favorites (book, team, and silly socks). We are beginning to dive into spring and the opportunity to explore the outdoors. The health Department is joining us again this year in an adventure of our taste buds. We will be tasting many different fruits and vegetables and deciding which ones we like most and which we like the least. We continue to be hard at work learning our ABC's and 123's. Some of us are learning how to form words and write letters to our friends. This month will continue to be full of fun and will lead us to a great end of the school year in May.

March

The month of march is a great time to discuss weather and the beginning of spring.  It is also full of many other exciting events such as Easter and St. Patricks day.  March will be packed full of fun activities and parties.

A few of these activities include:
  • Visits from the health department on dental health and making healthy snacks
  • A visit from the librarian.
  • St. Patricks day party
  • Easter Party
  • Learning about painting and drawing with lines and circles

February

February brings a time to show our love to others in special ways.  Although we like to show love all year it is always fun to make a party out of it.  First we will start out with a Mother's Tea on the 8th and then our class Valentin Party will follow on the 15th.  In the middle of all this New Heights will be having a gym day on the 11th here at the center, cost is $5.00 and papers must be filled out for your child to join in the fun.  After the first couple of weeks are over then we will continue the fun with learning how to write up to the number 19.  Which means we have almost made it to 20!

Important:  Do not forget about Kindergarten registration.  More information about this has been sent home with each of the students and is posted on the outside of the classroom.

As always Parents are always welcome inside the classroom and if you have something special that you would like to present please see me and we will find the perfect time for you to share.

January

In the month of January we will be learning more about the months of the year and snow.  We will be covering the numbers 9-16.  And learning more about safety.  The health department will be here to teach us about germs and the librarian will come to read us a few books.  This month we will be expanding our knowledge about our environments through exporing it with our senses.  January is a great month to learn about the cold temperatures that we will feel and the hot items that are in our homes to keep us warm. January will be a lot of fun and exciting.

December

Merry Christmas from the 4 & 5 year old classroom.  We are looking forward to decking the halls and hanging the tinsel.  Of course at this time of the year it is very important to remember those that are in need. Therefore we will be gathering socks for Hannah's socks as well as creating cards for the shut-ins here at Trinity Lurtheran Church.
We are looking forward to our Christmas party where we will be having a gift exchange and eating lots of goodies.
Although we will be having lots of fun meeting Santa, decorating and eating goodies we will be focusing a lot of our time on the true meaning of Christmas.  Jesus birth is the most wonderful time of the year. We hope that everyone has just as wonderful of a Christmas as we are.

Many things you will find in our classroom this month include:
  • A gift wrapping station
  • Presents under the classroom tree
  • Postal service for shipping off our packages
  • Our very own bakery.

Merry Christmas to everyone!!
